Opportunities

Sport

We have out-of-school teams in Netball, Hockey and Miniball in the winter and Cricket, Water polo, Hockey and Volleyball in the summer for children.  We do rely on our parents to volunteer as team managers and coaches.

We take part in the winter and summer interschool sports exchanges, including cross-country running and athletics. If you have any questions about the any aspect of sport, please contact Jessie Coleman (in/ out of school sport) at school.

Performance Opportunities

During the year our children have opportunities to view external presenters who come to the school to perform for us.  Every second year we present a major school production where every child is involved in some way.  In 2015 it was "Manaakitanga - Rotorua Feel the Spirit" staged in the fourth week of term 4.  Your child will also perform in dance and singing items through out the year with their class room or join the kapahaka group.

Music

We currently have Kathryn Lauder available to teach children in keyboard and piano during school hours.  Please contact the school if you would like more information about this. 

Swimming / Aquatic Centre

Pool maintenance is time-consuming and expensive, and Rotorua summers are short, we therefore use the Rotorua Aquatic Centre as our base for teaching swimming in Term 3 of each year. This also means that our children get instruction from the trained 'Swimsation' staff at the Aquatic Centre. 

Outdoor Education

All children will be involved in outdoor education and trips throughout the year.

Book Week

Each year we have a Book Week which focuses on a particular theme or author.  The children participate in a variety of activities promoting reading.  There may be a guest author or illustrator visit the children and for many years now we have had a special "Character Parade" where the children are able to dress-up as their favourite story-book character.  We have special displays of books which may be purchased for home, or as a donation to the school.
